Untitled Year Long Game

As you may know by now, I am planning to work on a big game for just about a year. My plan is to submit to IndieCade (indie game festival) by May of 2016. This game will be sort of be like, Splosion Man, Metal Slug, Super Mario, Super Meat Boy, and other platformers similar to those. When I make games I usually just go with the flow and do what I want to do whenever, but for a year long game like this that shouldn’t be the case. I need to have a plan. How many worlds will there be? How many levels will there be? Will there be bosses at the end of each world? Is there a story? What’s the goal? I need to have these questions answered, and I need to have an overall plan. I still haven’t settled on a title yet, mostly because I don’t know the story or the player’s goal yet.

I will post updates on where I’m at as I make progress, and I will update this post as that happens. c:

Untitled Android Game

Merry Christmas!

This is my game so far: Ball moves around, tap to change direction, don’t hit the red, score constantly goes down, bounce for score.

I just started working on this last night. I am working on it on my device, as well as on the computer. This is actually happening, I will turn this into a game that gets into the Android Market.

And yes, I am still working on levels for Moving Melody. I even made ziplines and helicopters, check out this little screenshot.

U.C. : Color Hazard

Got the title for my next game, Color Hazard. I’m going to make this game for Android, it will also be playable on the PC but it’ll be mainly for Android devices. I’ll release Color Hazard for the PC first before Android because it’s a long process that I still haven’t completely figured out yet.

Color Hazard is an Endless Arcade Game set in Space. You are a colorblind Astronaut trying to go deeper than any man has ever gone into space. Only the stars will provide color. You’re going to need lots of gas for this long venture though. There are quick high tech mini gas stations, but there are also duds so be careful. Both look the same though so if you can’t see color, getting gas may be a hazard. Doesn’t sound too bad does it? That’s not all, there are also Asteroids flying left and right so watch out!

I’m not finished yet, I just got to add menus, music, and more ‘juice’ to the game. Although, I am still excited to release this game when it’s complete. I also can’t wait to see a game of mine on the Android Market when the time comes. c:

Untitled Game for Android

Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m creating a game for Android devices with Processing. Kind of just started so there’s not much. The only mobile platform Processing supports is Android so that’s why I’m creating it for Android not iOS. If Processing did have an iPhone SDK along with an Android SDK I would definitely start with iOS but it doesn’t, so this is why I’m doing this for Android. Still excited though c:

U.C. : Spunk Spelunk (Mobile)

I am going to work on a mobile version for Spunk Spelunk. I recently finished making a prototype in LÖVE with buttons and all. Now I’m going to translate all of that code in Processing. It may take a long time because I am just starting to learn Processing. It’s actually quite simple and not super difficult. My plan is to publish Spunk Spelunk to the app store by the end of the year. Hopefully it’s sooner than that but that’s my plan.

I’ve also added a few things to the original game. As you can see in the image above, lava comes up from the bottom. It’s not as super dark as it was before, the bats’ eyes are also a little brighter, at the top of the screen it shows you how far down you’ve traveled in feet, at the game over screen it shows you how many emeralds you’ve collected and how far you’ve reached, along with your best in feet and emeralds collected, and most important of all the controls are better this time. Instead of space to swing, it’s the left and right arrow keys. Z to shoot, and like always up and down arrows keys to move. Check out my updated post for Spunk Spelunk.

One Legged Jonny isn’t completed yet. I still haven’t developed a goal for the game, but hopefully I’ll post it by Mid-June or so.

U.C. : One Legged Jonny

One Legged Jonny was my second entry for Ludum Dare. Ludum Dare is a competition that happens 3 times a year where your goal is to make a game in 48 hours.

This competition started on December 13th and ended the 15th. The theme was You Only Get One (YOGO). I had trouble of thinking what to make so I just gave the character one leg. My entry was pretty rushed I thought, there wasn’t a lot you could do in the game yet.

There isn’t exactly a goal yet, just moving, jumping, shooting turrets, and avoiding obstacles.

There are two types of turrets (both follow your Y coordinate), the first turret shoots missiles, the second shoots water droplets. Missiles kill you, and the water droplets lower your jetpack fuel all the way down.

If you touch the waterfall your jetpack fuel goes all the way down and you fall on the rocks and die.

The jetpack, and other things you’ll be able to receive, is guarded by lasers. You need to time it right to collect whatever’s in there, be careful.

I still haven’t finished Thermophobia yet. I’ve been working on this for more than a month now and I keep coming up with new things and I’ve been working on it everyday. I’ve already done more than I did in Thermophobia in the last month. Still not sure which I’ll finish first though, they’ll both come out around the same time though.

U.C. : Thermophobia

             3  2

Started this project on July 8, 2013 (Day after I finished The Slick Slider). I came up with Thermophobia when I was in Washington DC in June. I was walking around the White House and it was absolutely burning and humid out. I was literally moving from tree to tree for shade, anything that had shade I would head towards it. BOOM ._. Idea. “That’s what I’m gonna make!”. The whole idea of this game is to move from shade to shade before death. You have Thermophobia (Real Definition: An abnormal and persistent fear of heat, including hot weather and hot objects.) Your health constantly goes down unless you’re in the shade. If you’re in the shade your health goes up, or if you’re touching something cold like for instance, water. You’re also a mailman so you have to put their mail into their mailboxes. If you miss a mailbox it’s Game Over.

You can see in the first lil screenshot, that moon floating around. That moon is a powerup that makes the day turn into nighttime. Nighttime means it’s dark, the dark means it’s not hot out anymore, therefore your health goes all the way up (limited amount of time of course).

In the second lil screenshot you can see a pair of running shoes floating. I’m pretty sure you can already figure out what this powerup does. This powerup makes you run fast, so it’s much easier to get from shade to shade or the mailboxes without worrying (again, limited amount of time).

At first when I started creating this, I had some trouble with making shade for different objects and it was a mess and very complicated. I kind of stopped for a while because I was confused. I then fixed the problem like right about when (high)school started (Mid-August). I then kept working on it when I had the time, school would get in the way though. But now it’s almost Thanksgiving and this is what I have so far. c:
